Lesley began practising Pilates in Cheltenham during 2007 having tried many forms of exercise over the years including Hatha and Viniyoga, Step Aerobics and Body Balance. After a couple of years of seeking treatment for back pain, Lesley found that her muscle pain was a result of minor scoliosis of her spine. Increasing her Pilates practise in order to further strengthen her core, it was at this time she discovered the STOTT PILATES® method which, with its focus on mind-body awareness and proper alignment, she found to be the most beneficial form of Pilates for relieving her symptoms.
Lesley subsequently opted to leave a 25 year career in retail management for a healthier and more balanced lifestyle and decided to train as a STOTT PILATES® Instructor, in order to share the benefits of the technique she is passionate about. She completed her training at YMCAfit in London where she gained her Level 3 CYQ Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise & Health and completed her training to become a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor.
She continues to follow a programme of Pilates’ further education and training, including programming for Scoliosis Management, Osteoporosis Management, Pre-natal Post-natal Pilates, Armchair Pilates and Matwork for Breast Cancer Rehabilitation.
Lesley chose to become a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor as its methods have been invaluable in her own rehabilitation. Lesley believes that the emphasis of STOTT PILATES® on core strength and stability, and the five basic bio-mechanical principles used as the basis of the technique, provide fundamental and lasting benefits to students of this method.
